How to Keep Pests Out of Your Kitchen

In a couple of minutes, your kitchen has the tendency to turn from its original state into a pests party. Left dishes undone for a while, spilled some tomato puree on the shelf, dropped some crumbs on the floor, smelly trash accumulated too soon? These are a few basic instances where you might have experienced an overwhelming response by pests. There are times when even the jars and boxes are taken over by pests. It is important to keep them from spreading. If they find a home in your building then you’re dealing with a deeper problem which can cost a lot. Here are a few ways which can help keep pests out of your kitchen.

Spot One?

As soon as you spot trouble in the shape of pests you should take action. Get deeper into the investigation, leave no stone unturned to see the status of their development. It doesn’t take very long for pests to take over your kitchen. From the moment you spot one, know that they might have already taken up roots on your house and will soon be the masters of it. There are plenty of over the counter and home remedies but if you sense that the problem is deeper then hire a professional before the situation becomes worse. If you delay this, you’re basically just letting the costs of containing pests go above the ceiling.

Maintenance

Maintenance is gravely important. Make sure you have a kitchen remodeler at your service. Because kitchens often need renovations and touch ups, you should keep in mind to convey it to your kitchen remodeler to have an inspection done before they start your kitchen renovation brisbane. There are plenty of options that the companies offer like injecting or spraying medicine (on a basic level). The weather and location of the area where you live will also determine the extent to which you need to be prepared. Keeping these factors in mind, even if just as a preventative measure, have an anti pests system installed. These service providers also offer maintenance packages. You can opt for these to have an inspection at least once or twice a year. Ask your kitchen remodeler to walk you through all options available. Owing to their experience, a kitchen remodeler can help you arm your kitchen. Whatever the costs come in taking preventive measures is better than having to pay to get rid of the problem, as its complexity demands a lot of effort and finance.

Now, Not Later

When you leave tasks like dirty dishes, floors, shelves, counters etc hanging around, know that you can’t save yourself from pests. Leaving crumbs in the toaster, dirt under the fridge and trash to be handled later is not an option. You need to keep everything clean at all times. Do the dishes before calling it a night. Clean the surfaces right after you are done working. At least once a week refresh the cupboards and the fridge. Vacuum clean occasionally. Remember, cleanliness and hygiene are the way to go. Piling up dirt, trash and other deposits like that of food will only breed pests.

How to get a more ecological and healthier indoor environment

Posted on September 18, 2020 by ncode

Many people spend long periods of time inside commercial and public buildings where only 10-15% of the air could be fresh, with the remaining part being put back into circulation, often for efficiency reasons. Unfortunately, exposure to low quality air can lead to a greater presence of allergies and even respiratory diseases. The NANO-HVAC (Novel nano-enabled energy efficient and safe HVAC ducts and systems contributing to a healthier indoor environment) project used a dual approach to improve conditions in buildings.

The first approach involved developing safe, highly insulating HVAC ducts that minimize heat and cooling loss. Extremely thin, safe and cost-effective duct insulation linings have been achieved using aeroclay-based insulating foams that can be applied automatically during manufacture. These technologies are able to achieve a saving of 50% in energy losses and a reduction of 45% in the cost of the duct compared to conventional insulated ducts.

The second approach involved removing pathogens and allergens during operation and maintenance in order to reduce microbial growth. Project partners developed an antimicrobial, fungicidal and non-allergenic self-adhesive spray-on coating based on titanium oxide nanoparticles. This can be applied to HVAC filters during manufacture or while in situ. In addition, the use of a low-energy ultraviolet light emitting diode system will increase the energy consumption of HVAC systems by up to 1%.

Researchers also developed an injectable liquid polymer matrix, which includes polyamine-derived epoxy resins with cross-linking catalysts, which contained antimicrobial silver oxide nanoparticles. This was used for on-site maintenance of the air ducts, where the liquid polymer creates a coating that covers the surface, blocking dirt, debris and microorganisms and thus generating the inner layer of the duct.

NANO-HVAC has successfully used antimicrobial and non-allergenic solutions to improve the indoor environment. thus improving people’s health and well-being, and producing significant energy savings. It will also help make Europe a leader in cutting-edge HVAC systems.
